There are three Random House Group distribution sites – TBS, GBS and Transworld Publishers – which together form the UK’s largest book distributor for trade and independent publishers.

The Book Service (TBS) in Colchester, Essex is the UK’s leading book distributor as evidenced by four British Book Awards and the prestigious Waterstone’s Book Distributor of the Year Award. In its purpose-built state of the art facility, TBS distributes over 100 million books a year to 9,000 destinations worldwide, offering exceptional levels of service and value, tailored to meet client publishers’ and customers’ needs. In addition to distributing Random House Group titles, TBS also has many third-party client publishers, including Little, Brown and AA Publishing.

The centralised returns processing site at Manningtree can handle returns for those publishers and customers who are engaged within the Industry Returns Initiative (IRI) and also supports those who remain outside this process, to provide a comprehensive returns service.

Grantham Book Services (GBS) is one of the UK’s most successful third party book distributors for independent publishers. GBS offers clients a bespoke distribution service, focused on developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and their customers.

Some of the major client publisher’s include Lonely Planet, Piatkus and GeoCentre International. It distributes 17 million books annually on behalf of 40 independent publishers, to worldwide destinations.

Transworld Publishers also has a distribution site based in Wellingborough. Transworld distributes 20 million Random House Group books annually for its parent Company.
